Barrier contraception (noun) - Contraceptive methods that act as a physcial barrier to prevent the male sperm from coming into contact with the female ovum. Barrier methods, especially the condom and other methods used in conjunction with spermicides, can give some protection against sexually transmitted diseases. See Cervical cap, Condom, Diaphragm.
